Indian Coast Guard Ship " Shaurya" on a goodwill visit to Manila


Indian Coast Guard Ship "Shaurya" is visiting Manila from December 1-5, 2017 on a goodwill visit. During the port call, the ship would be berthed at Pier 15, Manila South Harbour.

The Ship will be open for visitors on December 3 ( Sunday) from 1000-1700 hrs.

Following are some details of the ship

ICGS SHAURYA
INDIAN COAST GUARD SHIP SHAURYA (CG 16) IS THE FIFTH IN THE SERIES OF SIX 105 METERS OFFSHORE PATROL VESSELS (OPVS). ‘SHAURYA’ MEANING ‘COURAGE’ IS A PROJECTION OF INDIAN COAST GUARD’S WILL AND COMMITMENT “TO SERVE AND PROTECT” THE MARITIME INTERESTS OF THE NATION.

THE SHIP HAS BEEN DESIGNED AND BUILT INDIGENOUSLY BY M/s GOA SHIPYARD LIMITED AND IS FITTED WITH ADVANCED NAVIGATION AND COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT AND SENSORS. THE SHIP WAS COMMISSIONED ON 12 AUG 17 AT GSL, GOA.
THE VESSEL IS SPECIALLY DESIGNED TO MEET THE MARITIME REQUIREMENTS OF INDIAN COAST GUARD OF POLICING AND MAINTAINING ANTI-SMUGGLING AND ANTI-POACHING PATROLS, PRESERVATION AND PROTECTION OF MARINE ENVIRONMENT, SEARCH & RESCUE ETC, OVER THE VAST SEA AREA 2.01 MILLION SQ. KM OF INDIAN EXCLUSIVE ECONOMIC ZONE.
